From 1914 to 1959,
Fr. Giacomo Alberione founds
a composite of institutions grouped together under the common name of “Pauline
Family”. Taking part in it are five religious Congregations (Society of St.
Paul, Daughters of St. Paul, Pious Disciples of the Divine Master, Sisters of
Jesus Good Shepherd, Queen of Apostles Institute for Vocations [Apostoline
Sisters], four Secular Institutes (Jesus Priest, St. Gabriel Archangel, Our
Lady of the Annunciation, Holy Family) and an Association of lay persons (Association
of Pauline Cooperators).
In
1960, Fr. Alberione, considering as finished the difficult period of
foundation of the various institutions, draws the mission of the Pauline
Family as follows: “The spirit must be one, that one contained in the heart of
St. Paul, ‘Cor Pauli,
cor Christi’; the devotions are the same; and the
various goals converge in a common and general goal: to give Jesus Christ to
the world in a complete manner, as He defined Himself: ‘I am the Way, the
Truth and the Life.’”
